St. Catharines Ice Hockey Officials Announcement

Turn your passion for hockey into a part time job that will last a lifetime.

The St. Catharines Ice Hockey Officials Association is actively recruiting new and experienced Minor Hockey Officials for the 2021-22 season.  Officiating with the SCIHOA offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to OMHA, Alliance, OWHA and Secondary School hockey at levels ranging from House League to AAA.  As the largest centre in the Niagara Region, SCIHOA referees officiate more than 3000 games every year with multiple tournaments, leagues and playdown opportunities.

There is a need for experienced officials at all levels as well as NEW officials.

To start officiating with Hockey Canada a new candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 14 years of age by December 31, 2021
  • Have some hockey experience as a player or team official
  • Have good skating ability and a desire to learn.

The SCIHOA offers a support network of experienced officials to guide and mentor new referees of all ages as well as on and off ice training and development.

If you are an experienced official or interested in getting started please contact Chris Arsenault at for more information.

Thank you to all the Coaches who have volunteered for  House League.   We are looking forward to a fun and competitive season!  Go Jr Badgers Go!

THANK YOU Sponsors!

We are extremely grateful to our amazing sponsors who help our organization.  Your generosity gives our athletes opportunities to develop their hockey skills and participate in events that will broaden their discipline and character which is invaluable to their future endeavours.  Your sponsorship is making a difference for all of these young women.                      THANK YOU!!

SCFHA are proud users of the Coach Them App

The SCFHA is proud to announce our partnership with CoachThem for the 2021-2022 season.

After laying the foundation last year, the Jr. Badgers coaches will build on their work and continue growing their resources with our partner, CoachThem. We are using CoachThem's online platform as a tool to help our staff become more organized and prepared for practice, and as a vital piece in the growth of our hockey club.

By providing a database of quality drills and also allowing our coaches to use their own knowledge and experience, we're raising the standard of practices at every level in the organization. In this initiative, our goal is to develop players through the Jr. Badgers program and allow them to grow into better players and people.

The SCFHA is joining a group of progressive Associations that are using CoachThem’s technology to improve their player's hockey experience. Their client list includes teams from the NHL, Division 1 NCAA and Minor Hockey organizations across North America - and we are extremely excited to offer their services to our coaches.

If you’d like to learn more about CoachThem, you can visit their website at where you can find information on their team and the services they offer.
